Chip Vs Tinie

The UK urban music scene has been ignited of recent with the circulating diss records fired between major players Chip, Tinie Tempah and Bugzy Malone. The distaste stems from Tinie's 2014 Fire in the Booth where he makes reference to Chip's 'Pizza Boy' track Featuring Meek Mill which Chip obviously didn't let ride. Chip returns to his grime roots to take shots at Grime stars SasKilla, Big Narstie, Bugzy Malone and Dj Cameo for their comments via his track 'Pepper Riddim'.

Shot's fired back at Chip came in the form of SasKilla with 'Chip off My Shoulder', Bugzy Malone's 'Relegation Riddim' premiered on DJ Cameo's show and also Devilman's 'Chipmunk Reply' going in at Chip for his Talk. Tinie Tempah releases a track featuring Stormzy and Chip's rap nemesis Bugzy Malone entitled 'It's Peak' which disses Chip subliminally. Chip heats things up further with his Track 'Coward' aimed at his rap enemies with Tinie Tempah getting the most lyrical shots, 'Next time you go Downing Steet better take all your trap niggaz with you' in regards to Tinie's men's fashion week pose.

Chip took offence to Tinie's Fire in the booth over Drake's 'Pound Cake' instrumental and brought his own onslaught heightening the rift in the scene. The hype created from Chip's Fire in The Booth and social media jabs has sparked this viral obsession which has culminated into numerous diss videos on Grime Daily and YouTube views with Chip's 'Coward' reaching over a milli in views already. The music is what has been most entertaining in the disagreements as it has shone a light on other spitters who have not as yet got certified albums such as Chip and Tinie and added buzz to the UK scene.

The lyrical war has extended itself with Skepta dropping 'Nasty' over 'The Morgue' Instrumental going in at Devilman for his 'Chipmunk Reply' with Devilman replying via his simply titled 'Skepta Diss'. Also springing from the beef is Shizz McNaughty and SasKilla where Shizz takes offence to SasKilla's 'Chip off My Shoulder' line, 'Shizz won't back it then/he'll be there with his hands in the air with a face full of fear like Sas don't pack him in' in which Shizz sends his displeasure with his 'Bazz of the Week' diss. The UK underground scene has had a few memorable tussels in the day with the likes of Wiley Vs Dirty Goodz, Kano Vs Flita D and countless others, check out some UK fire!

Director Spike Lee has recently released a trailer for his upcoming movie 'Chi-Raq' in which tells a story about gang violence and war within one of Americas most hostile cities. A few of the native Chicago rappers have tweeted their displeasure with the movie with @LilBibby_ tweeting 'That trailer look like a parody', @Lilreece300 stating 'no comment ', with Jojo Capone stating that he had conversations with Spike Lee to change the movies title. @LilDurk expressed on Twitter, 'that shit gotta be a prank' whilst Rhymefest thinks the movie exploits poor people and paints a negative image of the city, 'the story is not specific to Chicago'.

Spike Lee has denied taking a humorous view on the recent murder rates in Chicago and says, ' In no way, shape, or form are we making light of the lives that have been murdered with this senseless violence.' The name 'Chi-Raq' is a portmanteau of Chicago and wartorn Iraq and has drawn this attention for the portrayal not fitting everyone's liking especially for people from the city. The film stars Nick Cannon, Angela Basset, John Cusack, Jennifer Hudson, Samuel L. Jackson, Wesley Snipes, Teyonah Parris and Steve Harris to name a few and is set to light the box office on fire this December.

Timbaland and Jay-Z are engulfed in a copyright infringement case that claims they used a sample without proper authorisation. The nephews of  deceased Egyptian composer Baligh Hamdi are suing for the use of 1957 song 'Khosara, Khosara' in which 'Big Pimpin' uses its flute melody. The track featured on Jay-Z album 'Vol.3 :Life and Times Of S.Carter' and both Timbaland and Jay-Z have proof of Crediting Hamdi for the sample. Timbaland has testified to saying he paid a record label $100,000 to own rights for his own production also stating he found the Hamdi composition on a CD of licence 'free music'. Jay-Z has also shown jurors physical evidence of crediting 'We have rights as you can see on the bottom of The CD'. The pair have also said they have already repeatedly paid money to the family for the use and therefore are not in infringement of any copyright laws in this instance.

Osama Ahmed Fahmy nephew of Hamdi is persistent on suing the musicians after filing the complaint 8 years ago back in 2007 although Baligh Hamdi and the vocalist of the song Abdel Halim Hafez are now deceased. Copyright in the music industry is not a rare occurrence as music is constantly being reworked, reinvented and rejuvanised.
